When young people fresh out of school embark on a new season of life at university, it’s an exciting time, but it can also be a time of upheaval and uncertainty as they adapt to a completely new environment away from home, away from all that’s familiar.
Thankfully, the Red Frogs jump into this gap and create a space of connection, consistency and care.
Only a year ago they were first ‘allowed’ into uni residences. In that time, their positive impact on the residential community has been so well received that they are fielding invitations to more and more uni events, and have even been approached by a local sporting rep about a Red Frogs presence at sporting events!
And it’s not only uni staff and students who are being impacted. Young adults from multiple churches across Coffs Harbour are gathering together to serve others with the mindset of:
“What does faith at work look like, expressed outside of Sunday services?”
And they’ve got plenty of opportunities to discover the answer, as they outwork the Red Frogs mission of supporting, serving and safeguarding young people through:
“Family Dinners” (as the uni students have affectionately named them!) – growing from an average fortnightly attendance of 25 in 2024… to averaging 50 people – weekly – in 2025!
On-campus events throughout the year, such as O-week and more
And a continued presence at Schoolies – where each year over 1400 Red Frog volunteers travel to the Gold Coast to provide direct relief, safety and support to school leavers who find themselves vulnerable to the effects of excessive consumption of alcohol and other drugs which can negatively impact their future, right at the outset of adulthood.
Pray
For continued growth of the team and their impact among our young people – particularly in secular settings!
