“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.”

Romans 3:22 (NLT)

Following Jesus

The christian faith is both simple and profound, centring on God’s great love for every single one of us.

We believe that knowing God is what being human is all about. To ‘walk with God’, in trust and worship, fulfils our deepest desires for purpose and belonging, and is a fitting response to the One who gives us life.

We believe that through the earthly life, death and resurrection of Jesus — God’s son — God has rescued humanity from sin and its consequences. God extends forgiveness, and offers us a new life with Him, and empowered by Him.

For the soul who has wandered or struggled through life, distant from God and attempting to make their own way, this restoration of relationship brings welcome relief.

God’s presence is near, and His offer of forgiveness and new life is within reach for all of us. But it does require something from us: a personal response of faith. It takes a decision of the heart, to follow Jesus as our Lord and surrender to God’s wisdom for our lives.

Romans 10.9

If you are ready to follow Jesus, you can simply pray a prayer, just like the one written here. Acknowledging your belief in Jesus through prayer is a way to mark your commitment to Him and the start of a new life with God.

Dear Jesus,

I am praying this prayer, because I know I have been living life my own way. I am sorry and I ask for your forgiveness. I accept your love, your wisdom and grace over my life. I ask you to come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour. Help me Lord, to understand what it means to be a Christian. I want to be a follower of you; a bright light in my home, my community, my work place and amongst friends and family. Thank you Jesus for your LOVE and forgiveness!

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer, Congratulations!
