Missions Update – On purpose… or on the way?

It’s been said that it takes on average 14 meaningful encounters for a person to come to Christ. Each person, each encounter, is a link in the chain – and you can see it all around you, if you’re looking!

Like the public school student who paused in the midst of an LHCA Hip Hop class to marvel at the colourful wall mural behind her, depicting the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove, the story of Daniel in the lion’s den and other characters of the Bible.

How did she recognise them?
Because of what she’d learnt in her school’s SRE classes.

Hip Hop class. Street Art. Public School… Not places you’d necessarily expect to form three links in the chain that leads to faith. But when the Spirit of God gets involved, working through His people who make themselves available – anything can happen, anywhere, to anyone.

Speaking of SRE, our very own Love Out Loud Oz team had primary students enthralled and dancing for joy as they recorded a session live from LifeHouse Coffs recently. What a privilege for our kids to be a part of this amazing ministry that reaches to kids in public schools all across our nation!

Then there’s the beautiful & bold retired couple who recently walked into the local prison with Ps Peter Ainsworth to bring a piano concert, interspersed with gospel stories and inspirational father-like chats. Classic hymns, Aussie songs and some original compositions. The music staff member loved it, as well as the inmates. One inmate said afterwards, “You gave these guys 90 minutes of outside life with purpose. They won’t forget it, ever.”

From the LHCA Hip Hop teacher… to the street artist creating a beautiful, fun, message-filled wall mural… to the SRE teacher bringing the Word of God into public schools… to the retired couple bringing joy and inspiration through music and mentorship — all are examples of people living out their gifts and passions for the glory of God and for the benefit of His children – old and young, lost and found. People who ‘go’ with a purpose, impacting others on the way.

This is the essence of our recent As You Go series where we heard God’s question to Isaiah – “Who will go for Us…” and we responded personally with “Send me…”
A person holding a square piece of paper that states Who Will Go? God send me to:

Where has He sent you? Who have you encountered ‘on the way’ as you have stepped into your daily life with renewed purpose? We would absolutely love to hear your “Send me” story. If you’d like to share and be an encouragement to others, or to have a team pray for your unfolding journey, please drop us a line at missions@lifehouse.net.au

As you go through each day, keep your eyes open and your heart responsive to God’s Spirit. You never know – you could just be a vital link in the chain that leads someone to Jesus.
