Portrait of Senior Pastors Lotty and Cie

Who will go?

Welcome From Lotty and Cie

Senior Pastors, LifeHouse Church

Throughout the Bible, we often read about God selecting and raising up a person to lead His people to victory against seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

When Israel was enslaved in Egypt, God raised up Moses. When the Midianites were their oppressors, God raised up Gideon. When Israel was exiled to a foreign nation, God raised up Daniel. And even when the Israelites had a “date of execution” placed on them, God raised up Esther. It’s a clear and repeated pattern. Then we read the book of Isaiah, where God is heard asking the question,

“Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”

(Isaiah 6:8, NLT)

This is a tactical shift. God still knows what needs to be done in order to redeem and restore His people, but instead of appointing someone, He asks the question, ”Who will go for us?” “WHO WILL GO?” Throughout the pages of this magazine, you’ll meet our Partners and see the Projects. You’ll discover stories of lives eternally impacted. And hopefully you'll be encouraged by it all. Because it is truly incredible. However, what is perhaps the most incredible part of this entire story, is that everything you read has taken place through the lives of those who have heard God ask the question, “Who will go?” – and have responded the same way Isaiah did, by simply saying, “Here I am. Send me.” From biblical heroes to those in our midst today, these stories often follow a pattern: Those who are called rarely feel qualified, but they respond to God anyway, trusting Him with the outcome. Then we watch – as God takes their simple “Yes”, transforms them, equips them and brings His awesome plan to fulfilment through them. Jesus came to the earth to remove every obstacle, so that every person could come to know the God who redeems and restores. He has done the impossible. Now He asks us to take His message of victorious love to others. He asks us the same question He asked Isaiah – “Who will go for us?” If you want to be a part of the incredible mission that God is outworking across the earth, then it all begins with the simple response: “Here I am. Send me.” If you are willing to say those words, there is no limit to what God can outwork through you. Love Lotty and Cie

Where do you GO in a week?

With Michelle Grant

LifeHouse Missions Director

Maybe to a workplace, the shops (I avoid this if I can!), a family event, school or university, social media platforms, a medical centre, sporting club or party?

I wonder if we mapped all our ‘Goings’ whether we would cover the whole of our community?

Psalm 23:6 reminds us that God’s goodness and mercy follows us every day of our life... What an opportunity to transform and influence the world around us – just by going! This individual opportunity is on top of the shared witness of our LifeHouse projects and partnerships that reaches way beyond our postcode. From the persecuted church in the Middle East, to rural communities in Cambodia, to vulnerable children, to those in prison, to families in crisis right here in our own streets who reach out to our Care House for support. I am humbled and inspired by the faithful work of the champions in this booklet and for the many behind the scenes praying, volunteering and generously giving. God’s goodness and mercy is surely following us into so many corners of the community! Keep looking up and looking out. God bless!

Our
LifeHouse Care

How well do you know your home?
The spaces you inhabit. The people you live and love and grow with

LifeHouse Care isn’t just an offshoot of LifeHouse Church. It IS LifeHouse Church – our HOME within our communities. Every person who calls LifeHouse ‘home’ has a vital role. Some are there more often, carry more responsibility, and some less. But we are ALL valued and needed as part of the family team.

So – how well do you know your LifeHouse Care home?

Two young women grocery shopping

WHO are we?

We are a family all working together for the peace, prosperity, wellbeing and God-given potential of the people in our communities.

Our 168 volunteers come from LifeHouse, other churches, schools, NDIS, Ability & Beyond, government programs and the wider community.

Two things that could make this better:

01

More volunteers coming to the table, finding purpose, joy and relationship here in our spaces, and…

02

More of our LifeHouse family stepping into these spaces, bringing the light and hope of Jesus into the lives of our volunteers and clients!

WHERE are we?

Bellingen - Urunga - Toormina - Coffs Harbour - Woolgoolga - Grafton - Moree

Wherever there’s a LifeHouse Church campus, there’s an Op Shop, Pantry or both (!) nearby. And they don’t just offer goods and services – they provide a safe and joyful space for us to invite our neighbours, colleagues and friends into! In a day when 1 in 5 Australians over 15 years old reports feeling lonely* – our Care spaces are a truly incredible opportunity for us to actually help alleviate loneliness and isolation!

HOW do we help?

This handful of stories represents hundreds more – where people have come to LifeHouse Care and found that they are not alone… that there is someone like you, who cares enough to listen without judgement, to help with dignity, to see the person – not just their circumstances.

Cross-Care Connections with Nato

When someone’s in a crisis, having the means to support them there and then is huge. Not “I can see you’re in trouble, but we’ll have to get back to you.” Having accessible, flexible funds means we can meet more crises with immediate, direct assistance rather than jumping through 50 regulatory hoops. Like one family who was referred to us by a campus pastor late one Friday. They had a newborn baby, and just been evicted from their home. They had their car, that’s it. All the community services would be shut until Monday, but we were able to put them into short term accommodation for the weekend. Then there was the community collaboration – people brought a portacot, food hampers and other things to help get this family through their crisis. It’s community care in action.

Star Volunteer Linton

Meet Linton. This 83-year-old legend volunteers every week both at Sherwood Cliffs Rehab and here in our Hub – so when some of our Correctional Services volunteers turn up here, they see a familiar face and instantly a lot of the fear and uncertainty melt away. Instead of just keeping their head down and getting through the day, they actually have a chance to connect and grow in an environment of encouragement and positivity.

Less than a year since its launch, Ability & Beyond! (think Buzz Lightyear’s motto but in the Disability Engagement space) has gone way beyond the moon and is reaching the stars in terms of initiatives launched for families of children living with disabilities – all while remaining consistent, compassionate and present in the realm of pastoral care.

Christian Surfers

Great leaders know that their role is about raising up, encouraging and supporting other leaders – and that’s exactly what regional coordinators Juda and Lillie Leet love being able to do for the Christian Surfers (CS) communities along our stunning coastline.

Some of this year’s highlights have been –
  • Sam and Sav Penny doing a brilliant job here in Coffs as local mission leaders

  • New crews developing AND members stepping up to lead them

  • Missions meeting more regularly to feed those hungry for faith and fellowship

  • Once-dormant areas starting up new missions – inspired after attending regional camps or national gatherings

  • $10K raised by our region in a Surfathon to purchase Surfer Bibles that are given out with a pledge: take one for free to give to someone you know

  • LifeHouse surfer Noah Enevoldson receiving CSALT (Christian Surfers Australia Leadership Training) Academy’s ‘Best In Class’ award and continuing into Level 2 training at Lennox Head

  • 5 of our best leaders joining the CSALT staff AND

  • 300 people heading to National Gathering – in Coffs for the first time ever – over Easter Weekend!

As You Go Academy

The maiden year of As You Go Academy was an unequivocal success! Seed funded out of our One Week For Eternity offering, the gap-year style apprenticeship is a guided journey of discovery as students grow in and are exposed to:
Purpose + Direction, God's Word, Local Mission, The Holy Spirit, Masterclasses, Mentorship, Community, Adventure and Life Skills.

Testimonies from our 2024 crew:

"Academy has been my character building shortcut, knocked off a lot of rough edges and now that I’ve finished, I feel so much more confident!"

LH-Academy-Grad-2024-20.jpg

As Academy Leader Jakin Mai says,

“Stepping out of your comfort zone sounds exciting and adventurous but it’s uncomfortable by definition. Each person had a tipping point, but then pushed through – and they grew so much from that point that now they’re still making uncomfortable decisions, knowing that growth lies on the other side! They’ve changed the pattern of their life.”

Open Doors in the Middle East

Open Doors is the world’s largest underground network serving the persecuted church – and we have the privilege of partnering with their work in the Middle East. In areas of intense persecution, Open Doors works through long-term on-the-ground partners who are best placed to create projects that respond and adapt to the unique needs of persecuted Christians in their own community. Through this partnership, we get to shine Christ’s light in places of deep darkness.

Cambodia

In 2022, as a church we were invited to join what God was doing in Cambodia. Since that time we have witnessed the unfolding of a stunning symmetry – one that we could never have imagined or planned – as God led us into relationships with partner organisations that beautifully, incredibly mirror the heart and mandate that we, as LifeHouse, have been given.

Many of the mission impact stories shared in brief throughout these pages have been the direct harvest of previous years of seeds sown in fields near and far.

Here’s an overview of the last 12 months:

Thank you LifeHouse, for your faithfulness and generosity in coming alongside our partners, and being an active participant in the Great Commission given to us by Jesus.

One Week for Eternity

Have you ever pondered what one week of your income could accomplish in the hands of God?

Once upon a time, one small boy’s lunch fed 5,000 people. But it didn’t just fill hungry stomachs for a day. It opened eyes and hearts and minds – for eternity. It didn’t matter how much or little he had to offer. What mattered was the size of his faith… faith in the All Sufficient One… the One who always gives and IS more than enough. The One who doesn’t need our gifts, but yearns for our hearts and invites us to be a part of His miracles on the earth.

On the 22nd of June, we’re bringing our As You Go offering into God’s house. This is our offering to support mission partners, advance mission projects and build for the future generations.

Whether you can give a day… or a week… or a month of your income – it’s not about the amount you give. It’s about the faith you give with.

It’s about each one of us prayerfully considering –

What can I budget for?

What can I sacrifice?

What can I believe God for?

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV
